These were the things I bought from my Hokkaido trip. I like both the melon and potato tibits the best. They make good souvenirs too. Now you know what to get next time when you go Hokkaido already, don't you?

Using milk produced at the Furano Cheese Factory, Furano Ice Milk Factory, Furano Hands-on Workshop and Furano Pizzeria, these facilities manufacture and sell cheese, milk and icemilk(ice-cream). Definitely must-try!

Hokkaido Travel: Naka Furano - Farm Tomita - Other Summer Blooms






Summer blooms in Farm Tomita (富田农场) in Naka Furano (中富良野) is simply too beautiful beyond descriptions, isn't it?

Hokkaido Travel: Naka Furano - Farm Tomita - Preserving the lavenders and Lavender ice-cream





In Farm Tomita, workers were working to preserve the lavenders, which can be made into products such as dried lavenders, lavender perfume, lavender tea, lavender sweets etc. Also available for sale is the famous lavender soft ice-cream.

The above pictures were taken from Lavender Garden (薰衣草田) of Farm Tomita (富田农场) in Naka Furano (中富良野) in July, which is the lavenders' blooming season.

The above is the famous Irodori Field (彩色花田) of Farm Tomita (富田农场) in Naka Furano (中富良野). Go to the farm in the summer to view the beautiful flowers.

Hokkaido Travel: Furano and Biei - Sunflowers


Although early July is not the season for viewing sunflowers, we were still lucky to have seen them along our drive from Furano (富良野) to Biei (美瑛).

Hokkaido Travel: Furano - Ningle Terrace



Ningle Terrace is made to resemble a Ningle community. Ningle are "dwarfs" in the Ainu language. Basically, they are log cabins which turns into cafes, workshops and retail shops which sell handicrafts. The above cute sign can be found all over Hokkaido, warning us to always look out for lurking bears.

Hokkaido Travel: Kami Furano - Mr Gnu Pension - Our Accommodation in Furano


Above: My accommodation in Kami Furano - Mr Gnu Pension. It is situated up on a hill and has great views of the patchwork fields. Accommodation plus two meals are provided if you opt to stay here. The dinner(above) was prepared by both Mr Gnu and his wife.

Hokkaido Travel: Naka Furano - Saika-no-Sato Flower Park



If you come to Hokkaido in summer, you wouldn't want to miss this great flower viewing location in Saika-no-Sato Flower Park (彩香之里) in Naka Furano (中富良野). At the foot of the flower land, you can purchase local snacks and souvenirs such as t-shirts, lavenders-made products etc.

Hokkaido Travel: Furano - Rokugo Area - Furano Jam Garden/ Factory, Jam Auntie's Gift Shop and the Anpanman Themed Shop


Jam from the Furano Jam Garden/ Factory is made by hand from fruits and vegetables grown using as few agricultural chemicals as possible. The jam sold here at Jam Auntie's Gift Shop is additive-free.




Anpanman is a cartoon character created by Takashi Yanase. He is a hero who always help the weak against bullies. He is very well-liked by kids in Japan. The Anpanman Themed Shop is just beside the Furano Jam Garden/ Factory.

Hokkaido Travel: Biei - Roller Coaster Road, Bibaushi Elementary School and Lavender Express Train



The above road really looks like a Roller Coaster, isn't it? Thus the name - Roller Coaster Road.




The Bibaushi Elementary School along the Panorama Road, is a famous school in Biei (美瑛).


The Lavender Express Train is only available during the summer lavenders viewing season. It will take you from Furano (富良野) to Biei (美瑛).

The above are all famous trees of Biei (美瑛) . Except for the Christmas Tree and a Tree of Philosophy, the other trees are all in the Patchwork area. Hill of Mild Seven got its name after it has been featured in a commercial for Mild Seven cigarettes.

Hokkaido Travel: Biei - Potato Village - Our accommodation in Biei



Our accommodation in Biei (美瑛) is a cottage in Potato Village. It is two storey high with the bedroom at the second floor. It looks like a bungalow (only not so upscale) with a balcony as well as dining and kitchen area, the size is just nice for four of us. Our cottage is unlike the hostels, which are in the main building. Over at the main building, you can participate in all kinds of activities and have dinner with like-minded tourists from all over the world.

Biei (美瑛) is famous for its beautiful hills. They look just like patchwork.

Hokkaido Travel: Biei - Shikisai-no-Oka Flower Garden - Summer Blooms




This is yet another flowers viewing place of Shikisai-no-Oka Flower Garden (四季彩之丘) in Biei (美瑛). The flower garden is quite big and you might need to ride on their special buggies to tour around the garden.

Hokkaido Travel: Noboribetsu - Jigokudani / Hell Valley- Oyunuma and 奥之汤






Oyunuma is filled with hot steam vents and sinters, arose about 10000 years ago through a series of eruptions of Mount Hiyori.
